4th-6th Grade Teacher, Madrona K-8 School, Edmonds School District, Edmonds, WA
1999-2007 and 2009-Present
Madrona K-8 is a multi-age, alternative school in the Edmonds School District. It is a choice school that utilizes team teaching and combined classrooms. I am responsible for creating engaging and creative lessons to meet the varied needs of my 4th-6th grade students in reading, writing, spelling, math, science, social studies, health, and character education. I work closely with parents and learning support teachers to meet the needs of my students with IEP's and 504 accommodations.
District Literacy Coach (K-6th), Edmonds School District, Edmonds, WA.
2007-2009
I organized, planned and facilitated district-wide learning opportunities with a team of coaches so teacher leaders and administrators were engaged in a collaborative, learning community focused on implementing effective literacy practices and improving student learning. I also created and taught workshops for teachers, and modeled lessons in K-6th grade classrooms.
Founding Board Member, Guinea Kids Education Fund, Seattle, WA and Conakry, Guinea. 2008-2015
Guinea Kids Education Fund (GKEF) is a non-profit project comprised of individuals in the United States and Guinea, West Africa who are passionate about Guinean culture and committed to providing educational opportunities to children in Conakry, Guinea.
I helped plan, promote and direct annual fundraising events to educate and share Guinean culture in Seattle. I generated agendas, facilitated monthly meetings,
and collaboratively made funding and program decisions with board members.
